International Conflicit Resolution PDF Print E-mail

The key to solving any conflict is empathy, or the ability to emotionally identify oneself with the “adversary”.  We, as members of S.O.U.L understand, that we’re one with each other and with the All That Is, or God. When we expand our sense of self to include all of creation and see all others as equally valid expressions of the One, even if we’re embroiled in nasty conflicts with them, we have a very powerful tool indeed to solve these conflicts. That is why we simply must plan to become very active in the process of international conflict resolution.

We must apply this knowledge of our one-ness with others as the light in which we research the history and current momentum of specific conflicts.  Thus, it will be to the advantage of the peace process if we gather up all the facts and examine all the different angles from the perspective of all the parties involved in the light of universal one-ness. It is very important that individuals from all sides of the conflict in question, as well as individuals who have no emotional or cultural ties to the parties in conflict conduct the research of that international conflict. All researchers should remain firmly grounded in the reality of spiritual one-ness and unconditional love, regardless of pressure to emotionally support one side over the other.

One promising starting point we can advocate to anyone who is a party to a conflict is to search for a point or aspect of the problem where the adversary is right. In almost all conflicts neither side has the monopoly on truth or justice.  That’s easy to see for those not involved in the conflict, but oh so hard for the combatants. Mediators therefore, have to be very sympathetic to all parties, even if they can’t yet see both sides of the conflict.

Our capacity to research conflicts, on the ground as well as in media or print resources becomes much greater when S.O.U.L communities are established in the countries involved, and in other countries, with contrasting cultures. The Internet allows for constant worldwide contact. Once research is well underway, permanent task forces to promote conflict resolution can be established.  These task forces can then, probably in cooperation with already on-going campaigns, initiate short range as well as long-range programs to resolve conflicts. Like in the book’s chapter 10¾, Palestine and World Peace, these programs must aim to affirm the validity of people of all parties in the conflict and help them to create more prosperous, more peaceful communities.

Those who seriously want to participate in international conflict resolution can start by promoting S.O.U.L, the book, the accompanying website and the organization to acquaintances from countries in serious conflict. We can also start to research all serious efforts in peace making, and create a living, growing database for peace. Interested people should get in touch with us, so we can organize specific task forces.
